Spring Celebration 2009

Now a rite of spring for many Roland Parkers, the annual Spring Celebration was held on April 24th at the Woman’s Club of Roland Park. It was a night of jazz (by the Greg Hatza Trio), delicious food (by Classic Catering) and lively conversation among friends and neighbors. Most importantly, it was a night of community, an opportunity to gather and celebrate all that we love about Roland Park.

The evening also included a special tribute to Civic League President Phil Spevak, who guides Roland Park with his vision and leadership. A live auction, ably directed by an entertaining David Deboy, rounded out the evening, with a beautiful Greg Otto painting offered as the pièce de résistance.

The Spring Celebration committee is grateful to Rosemary Smart and the Woman’s Club, and all who helped make the event another huge success.

The Roland Park Community Foundation is very grateful to the following for their contributions to the 2009 Spring Celebration:

• The Woman’s Club of Roland Park, for their gracious hospitality;

• David Deboy, our Master of Ceremonies;

• The Greg Hatza Jazz Trio; Classic Catering;

• The Wine Source;

• Greg Otto and Kathy Hudson, for two beautiful paintings;

• Jean Trout at the Mitre Box, for the framing; and

• Michelle Pasternack, Connie Fitzpatrick, Sylvia Parker and Lucy Skeen, for the flowers.

In addition, we appreciate the following merchants, who made donations to the Civic League’s Family Fun, Roads & Maintenance’s Home and Garden, and Community Foundation’s Food and Wine baskets:

Basignani Vineyards, Cinghiale, Green Fields Nursery Co., Gundy’s, The Ivy Bookstore, RedZone Adventures, Roseda Beef, Schneider’s Paint & Hardware, Shananigans Toy Shop, Starbucks, WBAL, and Whole Foods, Mt. Washington.

Our thanks also go out to all those who volunteered that night and who made contributions to the auction baskets.
