Roland Park Civic League meeting Wednesday, Oct. 5th at 7PM.

The RPCL board will be holding its routine monthly meeting this coming Wednesday evening at 7PM, at the Roland Park Presbyterian Church, 4801 Roland Avenue.  The church is located on the northeast corner of Roland Avenue and Upland Road. The meeting is held in the churh basement, which is accessible from the side door on Upland Road. Parking is available on the street.

Beside discussing/reviewing last month’s dedicated topic of Public Safety, and routine planning and progress of various board committees and initiatives, a good portion of the meeting will be dedicated to Zoning.  Specifically covered will be positions on Transform Baltimore’s drafting, and where we are today with various concerns.  Click here to view the agenda for the meeting.  We welcome and encourage your attendance.

RPCL board meeting Sept. 7 – focus on crime and public safety.

Dear Roland Park Community Members- the Civic League board will be dedicating the majority of September 7th’s board meeting to the topic of crime, public safety, and what we can do in response. We encourage you to join us at 7 PM in the Roland Park Presbyterian Church basement (across Roland Avenue from Petite Louis) on Wednesday evening 9/7/2016.

Major Gibson, Northern Police District leader, will be joining us.

We plan to cover these aspects: (1) facts and progress regarding current RP-area crime investigations; (2) crime statistics and data trending; (3) status and plans on police presence and patrols; (4) public safety outreach and awareness; (5) community-led actions by nearby neighboring communities, e.g., citizens patrols and community-paid private security; and (6) potential infrastructure improvements like lighting.

We have much to cover, and we plan to have significant opportunity for questions and discussion so we may understand possibilities and community perspectives.

Thank you & I hope to see you there.

Ian MacFarlane, RPCL president

4th of July Parade in Roland Park

Parade

Come celebrate the 4th of July at the Annual Roland Park Parade, from 10-12 on Monday, July 4.  The parade will start in front of the library with a reading of the Declaration of Independence and some words from our elected officials.  Then we will parade down Roland Avenue behind the local fire truck to the intersection at Upland Road.  There will be ice pops and water for everyone, and the firetrucks might even hook up a  hose to the hydrant to spray us all.  The Roland Park Presbyterian Church will open its doors to offer us bathrooms and air conditioning for those who need to cool down.  Their children’s group will be selling drinks and snacks.  Please join us in your red, white and blue regalia and decorate your bikes, strollers and dogs!

Please send your favorite snapshots from the event to rpcommunication@rolandpark.org so we can commemorate the event on our website.

Ciclovía VI: From Park to Park – Sunday, May 22.

The Roland Park Civic League is happy to announce Ciclovia VI on May 22 from 12-4 p.m. The Ciclovia will close down the southbound side of Roland Avenue from Deepdene Road to University Parkway, and then close southbound University Parkway down to the Tudor Arms Road, and beyond to Druid Hill Park, to allow bikers, joggers, walkers and strollers to use the street for their enjoyment without any cars. It is a wonderful time to enjoy the neighborhood and meet your neighbors. The event will kick-off in front of the library at noon. We hope you can all come!

Volunteer to keep Ciclovia safe!
Safety volunteers are deployed at barricaded intersections. They ensure that motorists do not drive from side streets onto the ciclovia course. They also report any accidents to police as needed. Choose a time and location where you wish to serve. Orange safety vests will be available at each station. Wear the vest and give it to your successor when you are done. Thanks for helping to make this a great event. Please visit the volunteer sign-up page at https://www.volunteersignup.org/JE39T to make this event possible .
